IES Calgary Section Technical Luncheon: Energy Savings and Building Envelopes

October 10, 2017

Join Dr. Caroline Hachem-Vermette on October 17, who will share findings from several industrial/research projects, including retrofit buildings and new designs, and design of new smart net-zero energy communities.

Dr. Hachem-Vermette is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Environmental Design at the University of Calgary. Her main interest is optimizing building shape, building envelope and the overall neighborhood design for capturing solar energy, which can be used for electricity and heat generation as well as daylighting.

She has published a number of refereed journal papers, and has been invited to deliver lectures on the subject in many countries (including Australia, Chile, Norway and various regions in Canada). Her courses include lighting design, sustainability, and solar building envelope design (to optimize passive heating and daylighting).
