Signify Optimizes Multilayer Crop Cultivation by Introducing Philips Greenpower Led Production Module 3.0

July 11, 2019

Signify has introduced the new Philips GreenPower LED production module 3.0 to help growers optimize multilayer crop cultivation of lettuce and other leafy greens, herbs, soft fruits and young plants. The new module enables growers to easily adapt the color spectra and light levels of various dedicated light recipes to meet the needs of different crops and growth phases. It also offers growers full control and flexibility in using their LED grow lights so they can improve crop results and operational efficiency in closed, climate-controlled cultivation facilities.

Full control and flexibility

The new LED production module is available in different versions and lengths to fit various preferences. One version is the standard static module with on/off switch, which comes with Signify’s proven light recipes. Another is the controllable version, which allows users to adjust color and light levels and which can be used with the GrowWise Control System, stand-alone or integrated in a climate computer. This gives growers full flexibility to create and control their own time-based light recipes.

The unique combination of high light output and wide beam optics means 50% fewer modules need to be installed, driving down the initial investment. Operational costs are kept low through the robust design, high energy efficiency up to 3.0 µmol/J and long lifetime of 35,000 hours. The use of energy and light can be optimized, by adapting the light level to different growth stages and reflecting light off the white housing. The high light uniformity ensures consistent production day after day. The modules are compatible with standard Wieland connectors, which can be easily connected and disconnected and comply with IP66 and UL ratings for wet conditions.

During Greentech in June, Signify will disclose all relevant specifications of the Philips GreenPower LED production module 3.0. The product will be commercially available in Fall 2019.
