Eaton Lighting recently announced the launch of the Trellix connected lighting platform. Trellix is an open IoT platform and infrastructure that connects intelligent sensors to deliver actionable insights through the aggregation of valuable data. This allows building owners and operators in industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, commercial offices, education, hospitality and retail to improve operational efficiency and occupant experience. An on-premise server makes the system easy to use, with no recurring subscription costs or complicated integration.

“By providing more data on how efficiently rooms are being utilized, which spaces consume the most energy and the location of assets or people over time, the Trellix platform helps facility owners and managers make smarter, quicker operational decisions,” said Eric Jerger, general manager, Lighting Systems, Eaton Lighting. “Developed using a standards-based approach, the new platform is designed for easy integration with other building systems and services to allow data exchange, between Trellix and third-party systems. We currently have approximately 12 million square feet of controlled infrastructure deployed, adding value to end users.”

Leveraging Microsoft Azure IoT services, the platform exchanges data with the Azure-powered cloud portal for big data storage and analytics. The collected data is then used to provide meaningful insight on facility use and efficiency to building owners and operators. The only UL2900 compliant network infrastructure, Trellix is designed to keep user data secure.

“We are excited to be partnering with Microsoft for the Trellix system,” said Parth Joshi, chief technology officer and vice president of engineering, Eaton Lighting. “The Azure cloud platform, Azure IoT services and Azure Digital Twins, allows Eaton Lighting to focus on innovation at the application level instead of building cloud infrastructure from scratch, combining our expertise to better analyze how space is used and optimize it to better serve the needs of the end user at every level – from energy efficiency to employee satisfaction and productivity.”

Unique to Trellix is a new ecosystem of technology partners that optimize the connected lighting IoT platform. Together, Eaton Lighting and each partner will develop seamless and secure joint solutions for connected commercial office buildings, healthcare facilities and senior living accommodations. The four initial ecosystem partners include Johnson Controls IncorporatedVizzia TechnologiesInfosys and M3 Technologies. For more about each partner, visit trellixconnect.com.

The Trellix connected lighting IoT platform leverages Eaton Lighting’s WaveLinx Wireless Connected Lighting System, to gather and collect data that can be exchanged with ecosystem partners.
