The Light and Health Research Center (LHRC) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is pleased to announce that UL Solutions, a world leader in applied safety science, has funded a two-year membership in the LHRC’s Lighting Education Partnership. The Partnership is a collaboration among businesses, organizations, government agencies and other entities interested in promoting meaningful and effective education in lighting.

“UL Solutions is pleased to continue its relationship with the LHRC by becoming a member of the Lighting Education Partnership,” said Adam Lilien, Business Development Manager in the Lighting group of UL Solutions. “UL Solutions is committed to helping the LHRC promote the use of lighting to help improve the well-being of people and the sustainability of the planet. We look forward to working with the LHRC to help provide education to lighting professionals and end users.”

The mission of the LHRC’s Lighting Education Partnership is to deliver high-quality education that expands understanding of the value of lighting among end-users. Part of that mission includes providing professionals with technical information on using light more sustainably — providing the greatest benefit to the health of people and the planet. “The support of UL Solutions as a Lighting Education Partner will help us to expand our efforts in educating a wide range of people about the benefits that lighting can provide,” said Dan Frering, the education program manager for the LHRC. “We thank UL Solutions for their funding and look forward to collaborating with them on future educational programming.”

The LHRC’s Lighting Education Program is currently offering two online certificate courses, which will begin in September of 2022. One of these courses focuses on the effects of light on human health and the other on architectural lighting design.
