LEDVANCE to Close Drummondville Facility

CEW 2 CS Ledvance 400

January 23, 2018

Because of shrinking demand for traditional lighting products made at LEDVANCE’s Drummondville, Quebec facility, LEDVANCE will close the facility by the end of 2018. Production and transfer associated support equipment for some T12 products to its Versailles, Kentucky factory. The balance of the Drummondville operation will be shut down. LEDVANCE is also closing its factory in Exeter, New Hampshire, which also makes traditional lighting products.

About 75 employees in Drummondville will be affected by this closing.

The decision to close these plants is a necessary step in order to focus resources on developing a comprehensive solid state lighting portfolio that best meets the needs of the market and helps ensure future growth, says LEDVANCE.

“Canada continues to be an important priority for LEDVANCE,” says Glen Gracia, Head of Media Relations, Americas. “Looking ahead, our company strategy remains unchanged, and we will continue to provide world-class products and services to our customers. We have recently added to our Canadian sales force to better serve our local customers and remain dedicated to strengthening our LED business with new and innovative products, while remaining strong in traditional lighting despite a declining market. We are confident that our streamlined processes and more agile approach, together with our deep heritage and expertise, will drive our business forward.”
