Expo Milan 2015 Drives City’s LED Lighting Upgrade

The expo was the inspiration for Europe’s largest roadway lighting project to date:the installation by AEC Illuminazioneof 100,000 ITALO luminaires LUXEON M LEDs.The project is expected to reduce energy costs by 52%, and overall lighting costs by 31%. Milanstands to save 10 million euros on energyand emit 20,000 fewer tons of CO2 i in the first year alone.

The event, running from May to October, is expected to draw 20 million visitors to 1.1 million square meters of exhibition area. More than 140 participating countries will show the best of their technology onways to guarantee healthy, safe and sufficient food for everyone.

Sponsor brings smart grid to event

Enel, a multinational manufacturer and distributor of electricity and gas and the expo’s smart energy and lighting solutions partner, is showcasing a smart grid for power distribution. Its energy management system, equipped with a remote advanced control system, is managing 100 electrical substations interconnected with a medium voltage grid. Among the service offerings: a charging infrastructure for electric cars, and lighting of common areas with smart LED. A showroom designed by Enel demonstrates how energy flows move within the Smart Grid Expo Milano 2015.
