Hemsleys Jewellers Lighting Upgrade Demonstrates Effective Illumination for Precious Stones & Jewellery and Visual Comfort for Customers & Staff
A collaboration between Stanpro and Hemlseys Jewellers for luxury retail displays and modern lighting.
History
Established in 1870 by Richard Hemsley, Hemsleys Jewellers is the oldest jewellery store in Canada. A family-owned business established over 150 years ago. Hemsleys has been serving Montreal communities for generations.
Precious Stones & Lighting
It is well known within the luxury gemstone industry that lighting plays an integral role in preserving the visual authenticity of precious stones and gems. This is why most jewelers pay very special attention to each type of lighting they include in their stores and displays. The wrong color spectrum can make some stones flash while muting the color intensity of others.
Stanpro & Hemsleys Jewellers
Having the expert knowledge and the inventory to accommodate industry-specific needs, Stanpro was mandated for Hemsleys’ newest renovations. The scope of this project included redoing the ceilings and cabinet lights while making sure to include lighting fixtures that have large color spectrums that are customizable, easy to change, and reliable.

To meet these project parameters, Stanpro chose to include the following products in the project:
- SWIVEL BRUSHED NICKEL: The LED SWIVEL Choice downlight has been specially designed to highlight specific zones by offering 360° rotation with a 90° tilt. Featuring great performance and quality with a CRI of 90+, this 4″ directional downlight is easy to install in any type of ceiling.
- LOW-VOLTAGE LED TAPES: Strip Tape is perfect for adding color ambiance to any application. It allows to change the lighting design of an entire room with one simple click. The wireless remote control enables the selection of multiple modes, levels of brightness, the rhythms and the speed of color changing.
- 90° EXTRUSIONS: 90° extrusions and lenses are used as channels for LED tape light. Available in various shapes, they can be custom cut to any length. Combine it with a clear, opal, frosted or diffused lens options to bring a modern touch in any lighting design application
- TL94 SILVER TRACK: Highly versatile and adjustable side-mounted luminaire, the TL94 series is ideal for applications that demand outstanding performance at no compromise to energy efficiency.
