Arkalumen’s ORB LED Driver Recognized by IES Progress Report for Unmatched Performance, Efficiency, and Flexibility for Architectural & Specialty Lighting Applications

Arkalumen is proud to announce that its ORB LED driver family has been recognized by the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) Industry Progress Report Committee as a unique and significant advancement to the art and science of lighting.

The ORB is the first of its kind: a compact, modular LED driver platform that delivers advanced tunable spectra control in a Zhaga-based 50mm form factor. With its ultra-thin 8mm profile and integrated multi-channel driver, ORB enables unmatched performance, efficiency, and flexibility for architectural and specialty lighting applications.

“This recognition from the IES validates what we set out to achieve with ORB—an entirely new way for fixture developers and lighting designers to access high-performance spectral control without compromising design freedom,” said Sean Murray, President of Arkalumen. “We believe ORB sets a new benchmark for the industry.”

Key Innovations of the ORB LED Driver Include:

  • Compact modular design – 50mm diameter, 8mm height, fully Zhaga-based
  • Up to 5 precisely controlled output channels with a wide range of tunable white and tunable color options
  • Integrated control protocols including Bluetooth Mesh, DMX/RDM, and 0-10V
  • Superior optical efficiency with an ultra-short 4.5mm light path for reduced light loss
  • Customizable architecture that allows tailored spectral composition, lumen output, and LES size

By combining advanced spectral tuning, higher system efficacy, and exceptional optical control, ORB provides a breakthrough alternative to traditional round light engines and drivers.

Each year, the IES Industry Progress Report highlights the most significant new developments in the lighting industry. The 2025 Progress Report will be presented at the IES Annual Conference (August 21–23, 2025).
