DLC and Alliance to Save Energy Report Finds Network Lighting Controls Could Increase LED Efficiency 22%

LDS DLC report 400

Nov 6, 2019

New research from the Alliance to Save Energy and the DLC indicates that state efficiency policies routinely understate energy savings potential of lighting systems, leaving substantial savings on the table. Key recommendations of the report include shifting energy efficiency programs toward incentive strategies that promote LED lighting and networked lighting controls (NLC) as a system, which could increase NLC lifetime savings by 22% and help shave peak demand.

Additionally, the report provides a first-of-its-kind compilation of estimates related to peak demand impacts possible through such a systems approach – noting that peak savings available for targeting from C&I lighting technologies by 2035 could be over 37,000 megawatts, equal to 5% of today’s fossil fuel capacity.

The DLC and the Alliance will host a webinar to discuss details of the findings and answer questions on Monday, November 18, 2019 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm ET.
