IES Edmonton: Architecture-Lighting Design Seminar

February 28, 2018

On April 19, 2018, a lunch presentation by lighting designer Chip Israel will use case studies to evaluate various architecture and interior spaces and show how to use lighting to enhance the overall effect and mood.

The presentation will discuss options available to the designer, presentation techniques, and photos showing the end results. The philosophy will show how lighting can direct attention, identify details, shape spaces, and create moods. Various lighting techniques such as layered lighting, shadow and highlights, and colour will be explored.

Chip Israel, 2012-2013 President of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), is an internationally recognized lighting designer. In 1992, he founded a full-service architectural lighting design firm, where he built a team of lighting-design professionals who now serve a variety of clients worldwide. His firm has been recognised with 100 U.S. and International design awards, including multiple awards for sustainable lighting design.
