The TALQ Consortium, which developed the Smart City Protocol, a global interface standard for smart city device networks, passes the magic number of 50 member companies. The main reason for companies to join the consortium is to integrate the protocol into their smart city solutions and apply for certification. In parallel the number of TALQ partners, like cities and consultants, is also growing, which confirms that the Smart City Protocol’s reach is expanding further globally.

More and more companies from continents and countries around the world are deciding to become TALQ members. They can choose between two different membership levels: Regular or Associate members. Both options allow manufacturers to access and influence the TALQ Specification. Now, at more than 50 vendors, the number keeps growing.

“Wellness TechGroup has always been committed to open-standard products that enable integration with other smart systems. TALQ presents an excellent opportunity to consolidate this commitment to interoperability through the adoption of the consortium specifications in our extensive Smart City solutions portfolio.” explains Francisco Bernardo, Chief Product Officer, Wellness TechGroup.

“With our international projects in different cities’ IT environments, integrating TALQ was a natural step for our current and future smart city lighting projects.“ adds Kim Krahl Larsen, CEO, Novalume Solutions. “TALQ is the globally accepted standard for Smart City Lighting networks and provides real time integration to solve the main challenges of building genuine smart cities including increasing safety and comfort for inhabitants, reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions worldwide, raising cost efficiency for operators managing a smart city.”

“Interoperability is critical for smart city technologies to truly take off and TALQ enables that. Having multiple field area networks which are able to speak the same language to a single control and management platform enables municipalities and other large agencies to adopt state-of-the-art solutions like our T-Light street light control solution, without having to worry about being tied down to a single provider. Potentially, adoption of such technologies will be accelerated because decision makers will be facing less risk.” states Amir Hirsch, Business Development, ST Engineering Telematics Wireless.

“RealTerm Energy is pleased to be a TALQ Partner and believes the goal of creating a global communication standard for outdoor devices and central management software will be to help our municipalities, utilities, and university customers to more easily deploy IoT solutions to better the lives of their residents, customers and students respectively.” is explained by Mark Carter, Vice President Smart Solutions, Realterm Energy, as the reason to support TALQ as a partner.
