WESCO Services, LLC, a unit of WESCO International, Inc., has entered into an agreement to acquire the Canadian and U.S. operations of Sylvania Lighting Solutions for US$114 million. The transaction is expected to close in March 2019.

Sylvania Lighting Solutions (SLS) offers a full range of energy-efficient lighting upgrade, retrofit, and renovation solutions, has annual sales of more than US$100 million, and employs approximately 220 employees in Canada and the U.S. SLS CEO Todd Myers will continue to lead the organization.

“We are strengthening our lighting solutions and services with the acquisition of SLS,” says John J. Engel, WESCO Chairman, President, and CEO. “SLS’s customer base, geographic footprint, and extensive project management capabilities complement our existing turn-key lighting renovation and retrofit offerings. We are very pleased to welcome the SLS team to WESCO and look forward to accelerating our results in the lighting marketplace.”

“Our team is very pleased to join WESCO which has built an extensive array of lighting services for the new construction, renovation, and retrofit markets over the past several years,” says Myers. “We look forward to leveraging our combined expertise to deliver greater value and a more comprehensive offering of lighting solutions to our customers.”

Osram Sylvania is selling SLS as part of a strategy to focus on intelligent technologies in the field of visible and invisible light for the market fields of visualization, sensor technology and treatment.
