2017 IES Design Challenge

IES Toronto Section is Calling all Students and Emerging Professionals for the 2017 EP Luminaire Challenge

The IES Toronto Section Emerging Professionals Committee would like to announce the 2017 Luminaire Design Challenge. The Design Challenge is open to ALL Emerging Professionals (those working in the lighting industry or related field for 5 years or less – includes students).

This year’s Challenge is a 2 part event: The first part is a Kick-off evening where participants, judges, mentors, fellow EP’s, and section members will gather for an evening of networking, socializing, and learning about the challenge including an overview of the competition and announcing the teams. The kickoff will take place Thursday June 8th at a venue in Toronto to be announced.

The second part of the event is the competition itself. Participants will work in teams and design, build, and present their own luminaire to a panel of judges and prizes will be awarded to the top teams. Each team will be given a variety of materials to work with. Guidance and inspiration will be provided by mentors who will be available to assist when needed. The competition is an all-day event which is to take place Saturday June 17th at Acuity Brands 35 Minthorn Blvd, Thornhill ON L3T 7N5 which is a short distance southeast from the intersection of Leslie St. /Highway 7.
