Legrand adorne Wins Multiple Innovation Awards at IIDEX 2014

Four innovative lighting controls Legrand’s adorne collection of light switches, dimmers, outlets and design-driven wall plates swept their category at the recent IIDEX Innovation Awards, achieving gold and silver. A gold award went to the adorne Portable Nightlight Flashlight won gold. Silver awards went to the adorne Pop-Out Outlet, Touch Dimmer and Wave Switch.

The IIDEX awards are the latest in a series of honours achieved by adorne. Other awards include a 2013 Bronze Award at the International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) competition, and the 2013 People’s Choice Award at HI Connect Design.

“We’re thankful to receive these coveted wins, which tell us that we have truly raised the bar in our market,” says Philip Prestigomo, Legrand’s director of industrial design for North America. “Diligent research has led us to several conclusions, including how much opportunity there is in reinventing household lighting controls—a fundamental aspect of the home which has seen little design and technological innovation in the last 100 years.”

Pop-Out Outlet: lets you hide an outlet when not in use. Simply push on the outlet, and it disappears into the wall. When you’re ready to plug something in, just push on the box and the outlets will “pop-out,” offering three outlets in one and enabling easy access to power.

Touch Dimmer: features atranslucent face and operates just like an iPad – simply press your finger on the circle to turn lights on and off, or use the arrows on the right to dim them. Thanks to its Tru-Universal technology, this dimmer automatically adapts to any load or combination of loads attached to it.

Wave Switch: simply wave your hand in front of the switch to turn lights on and off.
