As the country’s only post‑entry quarantine, diagnostic, and research facility for imported plant material, the new 59,460 sq.ft building replaces aging structures dating back over a century, providing a modern, efficient, and future‑ready home for critical scientific work. Mac’s II Agencies supported the project through a fully integrated approach, bringing together lighting, electrical, and power solutions.

Prolux Lighting & Controls: Lighting Project Highlight – The Westin Pool, Calgary

Lighting natatorium environments requires fixtures that can withstand humidity, chemicals, and demanding conditions, without compromising the architectural design of the space. For this project, the team specified the LumenWerx VIA2 Seal above the pool with a natatorium finish, designed specifically for high-moisture environments. Traditional natatorium fixtures are often large and bulky to ensure durability, but the VIA2 Seal offered a more refined solution. With its small aperture and clean profile, the fixture could be integrated directly into the wood ceiling, allowing it to visually disappear while still delivering the rugged performance required for the space. To maintain a consistent lighting language throughout the facility, the standard LumenWerx VIA2 was also used in the adjacent fitness area.

Set against one of Canada’s most breathtaking landscapes, the goal for The Edge was to create an immersive hospitality experience and set a new standard for gatherings in the Okanagan. To bring that vision to life, The Rise Resort partnered with Falkbuilt HQ to execute refined interiors and exteriors with precision. Surrounded by sweeping lake and valley views, honouring the natural beauty of the region with refined design was high priority for everyone involved. Falkbuilt’s scope included dramatic timber applications, solid and glass walls, operable partitions, paneled ceiling treatments, bespoke guest washrooms, and striking custom millwork. The result is a mountaintop destination that equally balances the architecture and panoramic views. And for the lighting? That’s where LightForm comes in.

Concordia University Upgrades Their Sports Field Lighting with LEDVANCE Fixtures: Canadian Lighting Project

Concordia University in Montreal supports more than 45,000 students from 150 countries and is home to the Concordia Stingers athletics program. With varsity sports ramping up in the fall when daylight hours shrink, Concordia needed a field lighting system that could deliver consistent performance for games, practices, intramurals, and community use. At the same time, the University is working toward a net-zero carbon campus by 2040, making energy efficiency and long-term operational sustainability a key priority. LEDVANCE supported Concordia and its partner network with a sports-lighting solution designed for performance, reliability, and easier long-term operation.

Concept Illumination: Lighting Project – Maisonneuve Terminal – Significant Improvement in Nighttime Visibility

Termont Montréal Inc., operator of the Maisonneuve Terminal at the Port of Montreal, mandated Concept Illumination to modernize the site’s outdoor lighting system. As a busy maritime hub governed by strict safety and operational standards, the terminal required a solution that ensured long-term compliance with the Canadian Labour Code while improving reliability, lowering energy consumption, and reducing light pollution. To identify the optimal approach, Concept Illumination carried out a detailed assessment of the existing infrastructure, including the masts, mounting arms, and operational flows across the terminal. This informed a design solution that replaced the fixtures while reusing the existing structures, validated through photometric analyses based on two extreme operating scenarios: a fully empty terminal and one at maximum container capacity.

The dramatic two-story structure is comprised of solid wood, both inside and out, and presents an impressive facade on the main street of the community. And it incorporates the latest innovations in sustainable construction. With its forthcoming Passivhaus certification – an international standard that guarantees optimal energy efficiency – it will be the first Passivhaus-certified institutional building in the province of Quebec. The municipality wanted this building to not only be a positive work environment for its employees, but also a welcoming and accessible space for local citizens. It features various functional spaces, including a council chamber, administrative offices, and a large multi-media room.
