Ellen Godson (left) has joined Philips Lighting Canada as Senior Manager of Lighting Education, and Daniela Garritano (right) as Program Supervisor, Lighting Education.

With over 20 years of experience in the lighting industry, Ellen’s career has included sales, design and lighting education. During her 13-year tenure with HH Angus in Toronto, Ontario, Ellen managed the Lighting Department and was Lead Lighting Designer for numerous prestigious projects. Ellen has an experienced portfolio in the industrial, commercial, institutional, healthcare, residential and technology fields.

Daniela has over 10 years of progressive teaching experience at both the post-secondary and corporate level. She created the curriculum and has been teaching the “Decorating with Light” program at Durham College for the last six years. Daniela’s expertise in adult education will provide Philips Lighting with new insights on how the organization can improve the effectiveness of its training and technical symposiums.

These new staff members will help continue a legacy of providing excellent lighting education to industry stakeholders. Under the leadership of Tom Butters, the Philips Lighting Concept Center has contributed significantly to the education of end users, specifiers, distributors, students and Philips employees over the years.

Until recently Butters was the Director/Senior Manager of the Lighting Concept Centre/Philips Lighting University, one of the busiest educational facilities in North America. Butters is now IES’ Director of Education.
