LEDVANCE Joins United Nations Global Compact

June 25, 2018

LEDVANCE has signed on to the United Nations Global Compact as a business participant, joining leading companies in 164 countries that have committed to demonstrating leadership in four areas of corporate responsibility: human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption.

“LEDVANCE has always been committed to the issues of human rights, labour standards, the environment, and anti-corruption, so it was a natural fit to officially support the UN Global Compact,” says Jacob C. Tarn, LEDVANCE’s Managing Director and CEO. “These priorities are embedded in our corporate values and day-to-day operations, and we will use our global influence to help support this important mission.”

“In regards to the environmental focus of the Global Compact, we seek to help support the planet by developing modern LED lighting products that save energy and are long-lasting. Our global footprint is another area where we have strived to maximize efficiencies for the betterment of the planet. Here though, we can and will do more, as there are always ways we can improve our processes to be an even more responsible global citizen.”

In support of the UN Global Compact, LEDVANCE seeks to reduce its electricity and natural gas usage by 2.5% and 1.4%, respectively, and increase its recycling rates by 72% globally.

Launched in 2000, the UN Global Compact provides a universal language for corporate responsibility and a framework to guide all businesses. The Global Compact encourages companies to align strategies and operations with universal principles focused on human rights, labour, the environment, and anti-corruption, and take actions that advance societal goals.
