Lind Equipment Concludes Massive LED Jobsite Project with Ledcor

February 6, 2017

Lind Equipment’s LED Jobsite system of temporary LED lighting was a featured part of a BC construction site for a massive, $600 million, 1.2 million square foot shopping mall.

The Tsawwassen Mills project saw Ledcor build a $1.2 million square feet premium outlet shopping mall with 180 outlets just outside of Vancouver, BC. The mall was built by Ivanhoe Cambridge.

From the first usage of LED Jobsite lights in November 2014 through to the opening of Tsawwassen Mills in October 2016, the LED Jobsite generated a huge amount of savings for Ledcor, the client, and the environment. Compared to traditional bulb-based temporary lighting, the LED Jobsite system saved over $110,000 in energy costs, over 1,000,000 kWh of electricity, and over 700 metric tons of CO2.

Ledcor chose the LED Jobsite for this project to reduce electricity usage and maintenance associated with bulb-based metal halide temporary high-bays lights. Especially at the beginning of the project, when the site was powered by generators, the LED Jobsite was considered a great way to reduce electrical consumption and costs. Additionally, since the electrical supply was subject to disruptions, the instant start and re-start capability of the LED Jobsite lights allowed the workers to continue their work with limited down-time.

On the project, over 255 of the 120W Beacon360s were deployed instead of 400W metal halide high bays. Ledcor used the Beacon360 magnet mount configuration to attach the Beacon360s to the structural steel and provide light to the workers throughout the site.

“This project is a great example of the kinds of success that the LED Jobsite is bringing to projects all over North America,” says Brian Astl, President of Lind Equipment. “The LED Jobsite saves money and creates a dramatic positive environmental impact for developers, general contractors and electricians.”

Lind Equipment manufactures portable LED lighting, hazardous location and industrial work lighting, portable power, static grounding, and GFCI products. Lind’s expertise and robust design makes it the supplier to various militaries, construction sites, oil refineries, mining companies, and general industry.
