Leviton Expands Award-Winning Lever Edge Portfolio

Leviton announced on January 14, 2025, the launch of four new Lever Edge (formerly Decora Edge) devices – a 15A Tamper-Resistant GFCI, a 15A Weather/Tamper-Resistant GFCI, a Dimmer and a 20A Tamper-Resistant Duplex Outlet. The new GFCIs, Dimmer and 20A Outlet more than double the current residential Lever Edge offerings – a Single Pole Switch, a 3-Way Switch, and a 15A Tamper-Resistant Duplex Outlet – all of which are in high-demand among Leviton DIY and professional contractor customers.

Overall winner of the 2023 Home Depot Innovation Awards and part of Leviton’s Decora brand of outlets and light switches, Lever Edge devices offer the classic appearance and superior performance of Leviton electrical solutions in a new, easier-to-install and safer design – it’s as easy as push, click, done. The Lever Edge patented design has a snap feature with an audible “click” so installers can be confident with every termination.

The devices feature patented color-coded levers which allow for quick and safe installation by helping to efficiently identify the correct terminal for wiring, including a lever terminal for the ground wire. The Lever Edge GFCI models have a clearly identifiable blue lever terminal for the load wire to help avoid line/load reversal when wiring.

Lever Edge 15A GFCIs

As with all Leviton GFCIs, the Lever Edge GFCIs are engineered to meet the UL standard for auto-monitoring or self-test, periodically conducting an automatic internal test to confirm that protected power is available. If the GFCI detects a problem, one or more of the following will occur:

  •  Power will be denied with no ability to reset
  •  Trip with the ability to reset, subject to the next auto-monitoring test cycle or repeated trip
  •  Visual indicator with red light

Lever Edge GFCIs feature a large strap, making installation easier, and work with No. 12 and No. 14-gauge solid and stranded copper wire. They are ideal for residential and commercial applications.

“As the leader in GFCI technology, we value the importance of taking this new step forward by combining the latest safety features of Leviton GFCI technology with our easy-to-install Lever Edge design,” said Stacy Genovese, Product Manager, Safety Receptacles, Residential Business Unit at Leviton. “This innovative solution provides our customers with the reliable ground-fault protection and quick installation they have come to expect from Leviton.”

Lever Edge Dimmer

The Lever Edge Dimmer delivers superior dimming performance with all bulb types, including LEDs, and no neutral wire is required for installation. The device features the familiar Leviton user-friendly rocker switch and slide bar and offers easy customization options with a setup button to adjust settings such as dimming range, fade on, and kickstart. The Lever Edge Dimmer is single-pole and 3-way circuit capable, making it ideal for both retrofit and older homes. Color change kits are available for a fast and easy way to change the color of the device by simply removing the existing faceplate and snapping on the new color.

Lever Edge 20A Tamper-Resistant Duplex Outlet

The Lever Edge 20A Tamper-Resistant Duplex Outlet responds to the growing demand for 20 Amp outlets in kitchens, garages, basements, and other high-activity locations. Like other Lever Edge devices, the outlet features a large strap for easier installation, as well as lever connectors that work with No.10 and No.12-gauge solid and stranded copper wire.

Leviton also offers Lever Edge devices designed for industrial and commercial settings, including 15-, 20- and 30-Amp straight blade and locking Black & White plugs and connectors.  For commercial applications, the Lever Edge portfolio includes 15- and 20-Amp commercial grade receptacles and a 15/20 Amp commercial grade single pole switch.

All new Lever Edge devices are available for purchase exclusively through The Home Depot.

EB Horsman: A Practical Guide to LED Lighting for Hotels & Hospitality Spaces

Lighting plays a bigger role in the guest experience than most people realize. It sets the mood the moment someone walks through the door, affects how comfortable a room feels, and even influences how guests perceive cleanliness, safety, and quality.  Done well, lighting helps create the kind of space that feels familiar and welcoming – a true home away from home. In fact, many of the same essential lighting rules apply to hospitality spaces as to homes! For many hotel owners and operators, lighting is also one of the most overlooked opportunities for improvement, often because of outdated perceptions about LED technology. While early LED lighting earned a reputation for being overly bright or cold, today’s LED solutions – like those by Philips and Signify – are a very different story. Modern LEDs offer warm, inviting light, precise control, and significant efficiency gains, making them well suited to the unique demands of hotels and other hospitality spaces.

    Modern High Ceiling Lighting Ideas

High ceilings, distinctive in contemporary architecture, create a sense of spaciousness and timeless ambiance. However, lighting these elevated spaces presents unique challenges. Whether you need a cozy light for your bedroom or a practical solution for your kitchen, Ledvance can provide inspiration and guidance to effectively illuminate your high-ceilinged space. High ceilings pose intricate lighting challenges, from achieving uniform light dispersion to balancing practicality and warmth. Addressing these challenges requires careful design considerations. Traditional configurations struggle to achieve uniform light dispersion, complicated by issues like light path and scattering. This complexity underscores the importance of creating a comfortable lighting environment in high-ceiling spaces. Diverse spaces further intensify the challenge due to varying lighting needs. In high-ceiling environments, designers must carefully allocate light to accommodate specific activities, balancing practicality and the creation of a warm atmosphere. Despite the range of available high-ceiling lighting products, limitations persist, including affordability and the ability to meet nuanced lighting requirements. Achieving a harmonious balance between functionality, aesthetics, and cost remains a crucial consideration for designers and customers alike.
