The IES Ready Reference App, produced by the Illuminating Engineering Society is now available as a free download.

Now available in English, French, AND Spanish!

The App provides:

  • Core lighting knowledge, including values from illuminance tables
  • General knowledge information, assembled from The Lighting Handbook, 10th Edition and IES standards
  • Simple calculator for quick and easy basic lighting and energy and economic calculations
  • Search feature allowing you to find the information you want

Contents include:

  • The principles of quality lighting
  • The physical principles of lighting, including reflection and refraction, the physiology of human vision and related topics, including colour and glare
  • Lighting equipment, including light sources, lighting controls, and luminaire classification systems
  • Practicalities of lighting design, including energy, economics, sustainability, and maintenance.

The IES App is compatible with any Android or iOS smart phone or tablet.
