Design Solutions International Recalls Comotti 3- and 4-Light Mirror Tinted Glass Vanities

Conducted with Home Depot Canada, the recall applies to Home Decorators Collection Comotti 3 and 4 light mirror tinted glass vanities, model numbers 17004 and 17005. The light fixtures have 3 and 4 chrome coloured glass shades that contain clear acrylic ball strands surrounding a halogen light. The wall plate is made of reflective stainless steel. The light shades can be overtightened, which can cause them to detach and fall, posing a laceration and burn hazard.

As of June 29, 2017, the company has received no reports of falling lamp shades in Canada, and no reports of injuries. However, In the United States the company has received 108 reports of light shades falling, including one report of a laceration to the head that also involved a laceration and burn to the arm and one report of a laceration to the leg.

Approximately 5,150 units of the affected products were sold exclusively at Home Depot stores and online in Canada.
