Lighting Controls Association Announces New Course on Luminaire-Level Lighting Controls (LLLC)

LDS 15 CS LCA education 400

September 7, 2022

The Lighting Controls Association now offers EE302, Part 4: Luminaire-Level Lighting Controls (LLLC) as a new course in its popular Education Express program.

Luminaire-level lighting controls (LLLC) are a lighting control option in which sensors and control functions are embedded in luminaires to enable individual luminaire control. By integrating control functionality into each luminaire, control is highly flexible, responsive, and therefore generally highly energy-saving. Additionally, significantly detailed space use data can be generated as a potential feature of centralized systems.

Authored by Craig DiLouie, LC, CLCP, education director for the Lighting Controls Association, EE302, Part 4: Luminaire-Level Lighting Controls (LLLC) describes LLLC technology, system types, advantages and disadvantages, studies characterizing energy savings and cost, and what’s familiar and distinctive in regards to design and installation. As a subset of networked lighting controls, this content expands the learning in the larger EE302: Intelligent Lighting Control course.

This course is registered with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Continuing Education System (CES) and recognized by the National Council on Quality in the Lighting Professions (NCQLP). It is also required reading to prepare for NALMCO’s Certified Lighting Controls Professional (CLCP) exam. The Lighting Controls Association is recognized by the State of California as a continuing education provider and recognized by the DesignLights Consortium (DLC) in advancing knowledge of networked lighting controls technology and application.
